Can I switch this between vehicles as I like?

While the device can be switched to a different vehicle if needed, it is not designed to be switched between vehicles on the fly. If you need to change vehicles, reach out to Support so they can provide you with the necessary instructions as they will need to send specific signals to your unit while it is plugged in before you can go through the full calibration steps once more.

What happens if I need to unplug the device / I accidentally unplugged the unit?

If the device becomes unplugged, not to worry, you can quickly get things going again by following the installation and calibration instructions once more. This includes pressing the calibrate button and driving straight for 50 meters.

What do I do if it appears the local speed limit registered with your system does not appear to match what is physically on the signs on the road, causing erroneous speed alerts to be sent?

While rare, discrepancies between what is in the system and what is literally in place can occur. PocketFinder uses the mapping system ‘HERE’ (used by Amazon as well). HERE does its best to keep up to date but there are a lot of roads out there! What can sometimes occur is the speed limit on a road is changed and there is a delay before HERE is aware and can update it in their system.

Having the Conversation

Numerous studies show that teens whose parents set stipulations, paying attention to their activities in a helpful, supportive way, are about half as likely to be involved in a car crash. But, they are growing up and doing a lot on their own. Read our Blog Post HERE for useful tips on discussing safe driving habits with your teen and utilizing the Teen Driver device as a tool that benefits them.
